The Little Apricot

They're here! They're here! And so I just have to take a moment to sing the praises of the little apricot - ambrosia of the gods. Apricots set the standard. They cause the entire plant world to be green with envy.
Apricots stand alone. They need no crutch to lean upon in order to be adored; no crust or topping or sweetener of any kind. They are soft and sweet and juicy with a flavor no other fruit can boast. Just one or two make the most sumptuous dessert. Please, never cook them or dry them or confine them to a can. They will always satisfy when they are fresh and ripened on the vine.
Teasingly, the season for them is short, making us wait most a year for them to come back and grace us with their presence, but this only makes me love them all the more.

Aoricots are yummy! They don't really have pitted fruit like that here though. The fruit and vegetable selection here can be very slim, and expensive... $12 for a medium size watermelon!

I noticed you changed your background. I love it! I showed the kids your blog and they got excited about having one of our own, which is under construction now. They especially liked the pictures of themselves at the family reunion in 2004.
